All mountain snowboards are generally a various combination of the qualities of the previous two types. The different styles can be mixed to put something together that meets your needs. Most riders generally go with an all mountain snowboard and that's why Burton makes so many of them. All mountain snowboards are for the average snowboarder who's all over the mountain, hitting the backcountry one run and shredding the park the next.

Freestyle snowboards, or Park snowboards as Burton calls them in their catalog, have a lot of flex and give you mad advantages in the park. It's easier to stick out landings, as the board is more forgiving than a free ride or all mountain snowboard, and you can get a lot more pop with a freestyle snowboard. However, if you are looking to ride in tougher back country terrain, you may have trouble with a freestyle snowboard.

Freeride snowboards are more for hitting the big hills, powder, and back country areas. They're the stiffest boards. So, they are stable at high speeds and won't get wobbly on you. You can carve well at faster speeds, too, but if you ever decide to hit the terrain park, you will be a lost cause.
